CityKidz Walk-a-Thon

On Monday, October 24, we did a walkathon for CityKidz. CityKidz a place in Hamilton where a lot of kids go to visit. They go there because they are kind of poor. We walked for them because we were raising money for a bus for the kids to be picked up with. For the walkathon, we walked five laps. Each lap was one km. We walked 3km with our Reading Buddies in the morning, after devotions. My Reading Buddy’s name is Ella. She’s really nice. I felt tired and cold while I was walking my 2nd lap. We walked around our school and neighbourhood. We saw a big field where we saw our school and another school. On the 2nd lap my Reading Buddy gave me a piggy back ride. It was really fun. I felt really tall. On the 3rd lap it felt like the windiest lap I’ve ever done.

During the walkathon, lots of people said they liked my emoji hat. I’m glad that I brought my emoji hat because it was very cold and windy, and it kept my hair from blowing everywhere. When we finished the 3rd lap we said ‘goodbye’ to our Reading Buddies and they said ‘goodbye’ to us too. After recess we walked 2 km without our Reading Buddies. We had to pair up with one of our classmates. I paired up with Alyssa. She’s my best friend. The first lap I was wondering when it would be over because I was freezing cold. But then, it felt like it got warmer, but it was just because we got used to walking in the cold. Alyssa and I talked until the 2nd lap was done. We are hoping to raise $10,000. I know that is a lot of money. All that money will buy a bus for CityKidz. It was very fun.
