Senior Choir

Senior Choir is an extra-curricular musical group that meets during student recess breaks in the school day. Students from grades 7-8 are invited to audition to be part of the group. They participate in the group on a volunteer basis, without gaining extra academic credit. The students prepare repertoire throughout the school year, under the direction of CCS teachers.

Participation in Senior Choir allows students to achieve development in skills of dedication and commitment, self-discipline, group cooperation, vocal music, and public presentation. Each year, returning members are welcomed back into the choir, resulting in great membership consistency throughout the years. It is a joy and privilege for the students to develop their God-given talents and to share their music with the community.

The students are well received as they present at school functions, and within the community of Hamilton. Some favourite past events include the Fiddler on the Roof Broadway Junior musical production, the Peter Pan Broadway Junior musical production, the Sounds of Spring performance, the Christmas celebration tour, including performances at the Wellingstone Senior Residence, the Juravinski Hospital, and local shopping malls, the Fine Arts Festival, the Golden Horseshoe Music Festival (GHMF), the 2016 MusicFest in Ottawa, ON, and the Getting to Know Sound of Music school production in Spring, 2016.

In preparation for upcoming festivals, students are encouraged to become familiar with the following repertoire:

1. Morokeni, African greeting song, arranged by Bernard Kruger

2. All Night, All Day, Spiritual, arranged by Greg Gilpin

3. I See a Star, by Greg Gilpin

4. Falala, by Jim Brickman and Victoria Shaw

5. Can You Hear the Angels?, by Greg Gilpin
