Senior Choir

Senior Choir is an extra-curricular musical group that meets during student recess breaks in the school day. Students participate in the group on a volunteer basis, without gaining extra academic credit. The students prepare repertoire throughout the school year, under the direction of CCS teachers.

Participation in Senior Choir allows students to achieve development in skills of dedication and commitment, self-discipline, group cooperation, vocal music, and public presentation. It is a joy and privilege for the students to develop their God-given talents and to share their music with the community.

The students are well received as they present at school functions, and within the community of Hamilton. Some favourite past events include the Fiddler on the Roof Broadway Junior musical production (2012), the Peter Pan Broadway Junior musical production (2014), the Getting to Know Sound of Music production (2016), and the Getting to Know Once Upon a Mattress production (2018). Other events include school assemblies and the Christmas celebration city tour, including performances at the Wellingstone Senior Residence, the Juravinski Hospital, local shopping malls, and public libraries. The choir also participated in music festivals, including the Golden Horseshoe Music Festival (GHMF), the 2016-2018 National MusicFests held in Ottawa, Niagara Falls, and Toronto, and the 2019 Canada's Wonderland Music Festival.

Students can peruse the following selections that will be part of the 2018-2019 repertoire:

Tongo, by Greg Gilpin

Cantamos! (We Sing!) by James M. Desjardins
One Dream, by Dave Perry and Jean Perry
All Night, All Day with my Lord, What a Morning, arranged by Russell Robinson
