 Baseball

Each year the baseball teams participate in the Niagara District Tournament. The team consists of students from grades 7 and 8 who try out. Our season starts in May and ends in June.

The Girls' Baseball Tournament Info is posted below.  All parents received an email on June 5 confirming their girl's transportation for the tournament on Wed., June 7.  If your daughter needs a ride from the school, please be sure to be at CCS promptly at 7:50.  The coaches' meeting is at 8:30 and devotions are at 8:45 in Jordan Station.

Sr Boys Baseball

Try-outs for the senior boys baseball team resume this Friday May 12th, from 3:30-4:45, weather permitting. It is important that boys trying out for the team make it to this try-out, especially if they missed Tuesday's try-out. I hope to have the team posted by Monday.

Once the team has been posted, practices will run on Tuesdays after school from 3:30 to 4:45.

The date for the tournament is June 7th in Henning Park in Caledonia. Getting to the park is the responsibility of the players on the team. I do not have access to a car on that day. Please make car pooling arrangements ahead of time.  I much appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

It is a short season so please do your best to be at each tryout and practice!

**Parents, please be sure to pick up your son at 4:50 from the front lobby (school policy).  Thanks!

 Mr. Boer

Here are more details regarding the Boys Baseball Tournament on June 7th:

Hello NDCS Athletic Coordinators and Representatives,

The NDCS Boys’ Baseball Tournament will be held at Henning Park, at the end of the bypass in Caledonia. The date of the tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7, 2017. There is also a rain-date booked on Thursday, June 8, 2017. The start of the tournament is at 8:45AM with a meeting for coaches and umpires. So, teams are recommended to arrive at the baseball diamonds around 8:40AM. The estimated ending of the tournament will be around 3:00PM. There will be lunch and snacks available for purchase at the pavilion structure in the middle of the park. Games will be 6 innings (approximately 50 minutes). Please play at a good, steady pace so that every game will be able to be completed. Encourage fielders to jog in and out from positions to the dugout. Please be reminded that steel-spiked shoed are not permitted. Baseball bats of any type (ie. wood, aluminum, carbon fibre, etc.) are permitted, but the tournament will be using a .44 COR 375 compression baseball. Baseball helmets must be complete with chin straps. Back-catchers masks are mandatory. Pitchers must wear a batting helmet. Please review the NDCS Three-Pitch Rules before the tournament day. Lost and found articles should be brought to and picked up from the pavilion. Please check it out before you leave at the end of the tournament. I hope we enjoy a safe and exciting day of fellowship between our schools as well as competition to the glory of God. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at haverkamp@jdcs.ca so that the tournament may run as smoothly as possible. See you soon! Regards, Chad Haverkamp
