Each year the baseball teams participate in the Niagara District Tournament . The team consists of students from grade 7 and 8 who try out. Our season starts in May and ends in June.

Basketball
Each year the basketball teams participate in the Niagara District Tournament and the HDCH invitational.  The team consists of students from grade 7 and 8 who try out.  Our season starts in January and finishes up by the end of March.

Cross Country
The cross country team meets throughout the first month of school and runs together in preparation for several meets in October.

Field Day

Field Day is held in May each year at CCS. It is one of our largest whole school events. The entire school population, from grade one to grade eight are divided up into mixed age teams to compete in a variety of field events and games with the grade eight students providing leadership for the teams. Faculty, staff and volunteers manage the events. The top five teams are recognized for the number of points they have earned and a good time is had by all.

 Hockey

Wow!  What a busy weekend of hockey.  The Cougars played on both Friday (Feb. 3) and Monday (Feb. 6).  The first tournament was in Grimsby and involved teams from our local district.  We iced a competitive team and most games were very close, but we were unable to make the finals.  The overall finish was 4th place, losing the consolation game 4-3.  Monday's tournament took place in Barrie and it was a terrific day of hockey.  You could really see the experience the boys acquired from playing in the first tournament.  We tied our first game against Heritage (we lost to Heritage on Friday), won our next game convincingly (8-0), and played a third game that would determine who would advance to the finals.  A victory would send us through to the championship game.  Leading 2-1 with only 30 seconds left, Stouffville tied the game and sent us to the consolation game.  More dramatics occurred in this game against Trenton.  Out played for most of the game, we found ourselves tied 2-2 at games end.  Shoot-out was up next.  Finally, after an extra 3 shooters, Trenton scored the winning goal to seal another 4th place finish for us.  The guys played great in both tournaments and are to be commended for their display of sportsmanship and effort!  I'd also like to thank the many parents who came to both tournaments and helped drive the players to the games.  A special thanks to Mark Bassie who helped coach the boys.

Girls Soccer

This year the CCS girls’ soccer team travelled to Cayuga to play in the annual district soccer tournament. They had been practising the three weeks prior to this and also had a practice game against a local Christian School.  On October 4th, the girls started the day with a loss when their opponents scored to break the tie at the final whistle. The second game also ended in a tough loss.  At the end of the afternoon, they had won the remaining two games with strong showings, but still narrowly missed making the playoff round.  The competitive spirit of the girls, along with their amazing display of sportsmanship was appreciated by many people.  Awesome job ladies! Mrs. W. and Mrs. B.

 Boys Soccer
This year CCS sent two teams to the district tournament, held on Oct. 4 in Cayuga.  Team B consisted of a few grade 8 boys and 12 grade 7 boys.  They had a excellent day considering they were younger than most teams.  The won one game, narrowly lost another and were defeated in the third game.  Team A consisted of all grade 8 boys and also experienced a good day of soccer.  This team tied their first game, won their next two and qualified for the championship game.  In a seesaw battle CCS lost the game 4-2 to Heritage.  Thanks for the hard work and great sportsmanship both teams!!

 Track
Each year we have our top students in track compete in the Niagara District Master Field day.  The grade levels represented at this event covers from grade 4 to grade 8.  Master Field day happens in early June after we have held our own school-wide track and field day.  We also send representatives from grade 6-8 to the Hamilton Indoor Track games in February.

Volleyball

Each year students at CCS are given the chance to participate on the volleyball team. We participate in two tournaments: A tournament hosted by HDCH occurs mid November, and a Niagara District Christian Schools tournament which occurs early December. It is a great way to interact with peers and other schools in serving God through our athletic gifts.
