Our class was super excited when Mrs. Breimer told us that we would be doing

something “different” for our unit on Renewable Energy in Science. In December, she posed a question from the Board of Directors to us: “How can we use renewable energy at Calvin?” Most of us had no clue what most of these renewable energy sources were until we went to the Sustainable House In Vaughan. There we learned about wind, solar, biomass, hydroelectric, geothermal and many more renewable energy sources. The reason this place is called the Sustainable House is because it is literally a sustainable house. It runs completely on renewable energy and is mostly made of recycled/reusable items. When presentation day came we were all excited and nervous at the same time. We saw many models ranging from solar energy to hydroelectric energy. We presented our ideas to the Board. They were very excited.  PBL taught us to work as a team, cooperate and get things done. I think that PBL should be used more often at Calvin!
