From the very first week of school until the middle of October, around 30 students from grades 4-6 have missed many lunches and recesses as they trained for cross country. The students did a lot of running around our school property and the local Captain Cornelius Park. They learned about good pacing, what to do when they get a cramp, and how to run up and down hills.

Just as importantly, they learned how to run not just as individuals, but how to help each other as a team. As coaches, it's always really special to see a struggling runner helped along by a teammate, and this is something we witnessed from this year's team. After weeks of practice, we were ready for a cross country meet!

Our first meet this year was the MacNab Lions Cross Country Meet on in late September. Our school enjoyed racing against local Hamilton schools, and we had a number of students place very well. Aidan came in first in the Bantam race, and in the Junior race, Jamie came in first, followed closely by Justin in second and Jordan in fourth. Our second meet, took place on Friday, October 17 in Dundas Valley. This meet was very exciting because 22 Christian schools from all over Ontario join together, with around 400 runners, and many fans to cheer them on. That's a lot of people! Our Junior boys ran well, placing third and our Senior boys placed 1st! Overall, our school came in fourth. We also had many CCS parents volunteer to help us, and we really appreciated their work. Throughout our cross country season, we were very impressed with the hard work and positive attitude out team displayed this year! Well done, runners!
